Description
The Suttner ST160 foam injector has a restrictive orifice that the water stream is forced through. Operating this foam injector with a foam lance or low pressure nozzle causes a vacuum effect within the injector, which draws chemical up into the water stream. To ensure you select the correct foam lance or foam head for your injector please use our interactive chart below, you will need to know the flow and pressure of the machine you will be operating on.

Overview
RM Suttner ST160 Foam Injector
This ST160 foam injector has a restrictive orifice that the water stream is forced through, operating this foam injector with a foam head or lance that contains a low pressure nozzle causes a vacuum effect within the injector, drawing chemical up into the water stream. These injectors are used in many industries for industrial cleaning including Agriculture, Automotive and the Food processing industry. We have a range of equipment that can be used in combination with our foam injectors to apply foam, such as the ST75 Foam Head, ST76 Foam Blaster or our extremely innovative Triple Nozzle which is specifically designed for applying foam and disinfectant chemicals within food processing environments.

Nozzle Sizing
In order for the foam injector to add chemical to the water stream the pressure being exerted through the injector needs to be lowered. It is important to get the correct injector size combined with foam nozzle size. The larger the hole where the water flow exits the lower the pressure becomes. The higher the water flow of the system the injector is operating on the larger the nozzle hole needs to be. This ensures the pressure is kept low enough to create the vacuum effect required to add chemical to the water stream. If you know the flow and pressure of the system your injector will be working on you can use our interactive chart below to ensure you select the correct products. Click the box where your flow and pressure meet, then select the type of injector you require. You will find the correctly related foam head or foam lance on the products page of the injector you require.
We highly recommend using a chemical filter on the end of your chemical tube. This helps to prevent any unwanted debris possibly entering your chemical injector and causing a blockage. Always check the viscosity of the chemical you are using as this can greatly affect the draw rate of the chemical into the water stream. Dosing of chemical can be adjusted by adding one of the ten nozzles inserts which are provided with each injector.
Â

Chemical suction is affected by water temperature
At higher temperatures the maximum achievable vacuum drops significantly. The graph demonstrates that at temperatures of 90°C and above, the venturi effect becomes impossible.Â

You will need to know the flow rate and pressure of the pressure washer or system that the injector is to be installed.
Firstly select the closest flow rate (round up if required)
Then move right across the chart until you are at the closest pressure column.
The top number (1.6) is the injector size.
For foam injectors not using compressed air the number in brackets underneath is the correct ST75 foam lance size required.
